Nicolai Brahe is a 2nd rank member of Ouroboros and a NEXT with the ability of petrification. He has an Ouroboros tattoo on his right hand. Brahe was an orphan and one of the Nemo Children. He was the adoptive father of Fugan and Mugan, in addition to other children.
He, alongside Fugan and Mugan, is shot by Gregory Sunshine in "Constant dropping wears away a stone."
History[]
Nicolai was a Nemo Child, however as he served Ouroboros, he managed to rise to rank 2.
Nicolai met Mugan and Fugan at a restaurant when the brothers were very young. Mugan and Fugan were arguing with the counter attendant who pulled out a gun when he realized they were NEXTs. Nicolai was sitting in a booth nearby and intervened to help the boys and then invited them to come with him. However, as they didn't like living with the other children, they asked to come live with Nicolai and he agreed.
Six months prior to the events of season 2, Nicolai received an order from Ouroboros to use Mugan and Fugan to defeat some heroes. Nicolai is unwilling, stating that they are still children and are not ready to fight experienced heroes, but Ouroboros doesn't care as they can easily replace them. Having no choice, Nicolai suggests to Mugan and Fugan that they can beat heroes and become better than their idol, L.L. Audun. Later that night, Nicolai overhears that Mugan and Fugan had figured this was an order from Ouroboros, but will do it to make Nicolai happy.
Storyline[]
After Mugan and Fugan manage to defeat 24 heroes, Nicolai tells them they should move to Stern Bild, where there are exactly 12 heroes, so they can reach their goal of 36 defeated heroes.
In Stern Bild, Nicolai Brahe meets with Sigourney Rosicky and both introduce themselves as being rank 2 in Ouroboros. Sigourney is surprised to see a rank 2 with a mark. Nicolai explains he used to be an orphan, making Sigourney guess he is one of the Nemo Children. Nicolai confirms and explains he managed to get up in the ranks. Sigourney guesses that Nicolai is behind the hero hunting recently and he confirms, stating he found some capable people from among the Nemo Children. Sigourney states that she can help him by making his hunt easier, as she was developing a drug to make non-NEXT into NEXT, but couldn't get that result. However, unexpectedly, they made a drug that works only on NEXT and is able to boost the NEXT powers by several orders of magnitude.
Nicolai and Sigourney visit Randle at the laboratory, where Randle claims to be the one who created the drug (it was actually created by Mattia Ingram). Sigourney then reveals she sent out for a prisoner with NEXT powers to experiment on. She shows the prisoner's ability, which makes Randle lose control over his own ability. Nicolai recognizes the man as Gregory Sunshine, a famous criminal. Mugan and Fugan then come to retrieve an item from Nicolai and Sigourney comments that they are good pawns, but Nicolai tells her they are not pawns. Later, a worried Mugan returns with Fugan who was clearly badly beaten but wants to head back to fight the heroes. Nicolai suggests that they rest, however, Sigourney states she has a drug that can make them stronger and Mugan and Fugan agree to take it. Nicolai is against it, but Sigourney proceeds and injects them with it.
On December 24, Nicolai watches Hero TV as the remaining heroes face Mugan and Fugan. When Fugan breaks his arm, Nicolai realizes something is wrong, but hears a gunshot and goes to check it out. He finds Sigourney with a wound on her arm, who explains that Gregory got a hold of a gun and had escaped with the drug. Nicolai then proceeds to chase after Gregory. He eventually corners him outside, but Mugan and Fugan return gravely injured. They feel their end is coming and come to say goodbye to Nicolai and thank him for everything. Gregory then shoots Mugan and Fugan in the head. This makes Nicolai angry, but Gregory shoots him in the chest. In his last moments, Nicolai removes his gloves and deactivates his petrification NEXT power and pets Mugan and Fugan as he dies.
According to Agnes Joubert, she explains to the heroes that "the police just received an urgent phone call from Mattia. Fugan and Mugan were found with the body of an unidentified man." After Nicolai was killed, it is unknown on what happened to his body.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Petrification: Nicolai is able to petrify any opponent, leaving them in a frozen state. However, he needs to keep his power active for the petrification to continue working as disabling it will undo the petrification. This is seen in Constant dropping wears away a stone. when he unclasps his left hand to pet a dead Fugan who was shot in the head by Gregory Sunshine, to which the petrification has deactivated and the heroes (Fire Emblem, Sky High, Dragon Kid, Origami Cyclone, Golden Ryan, Blue Rose and Rock Bison) have now started moving.
