Tiger & Bunny Hero's Day (TIGER&BUNNY~ヒーローズ デイ~ Taigā Ando Banī ~Hīrōzu Dei~) is a video game/visual novel that was released after Tiger & Bunny On Air Jack! in March 2013 and was developed by D3 Publisher. There was a limited edition version of the game that also came with special Defor Meister Petit Figures of Wild Tiger and Barnaby Brooks Jr., as well as 10 postcards featuring all 8 heroes, Lunatic, and the Limited Edition Boxart. And regardless of edition, there were multiple pre-order bonuses depending on where one pre-ordered from, such as a tosho card, bookmarks, or clear files. On the 7th of August in 2014, a cheaper 'Best Price' edition of the game became available for only 1,980 Yen. As the game was only released in Japan, there exists no official other-language translation. There is an unofficial walkthrough wiki located here, however it is once again in Japanese.

Gameplay[]

Hero's Day plays like a standard visual novel, with most of the interaction being limited to moving about menus and picking dialogue choices (some of which are timed). Each hero's story has 3 possible ending outcomes. Some heroes can run into a game over or a "To Be Continued..." early ending. In the case of running into a "To Be Continued", the player must play through another character's route to unlock the scene. One example of this is Kotetsu will sleep on the job, leading into a "To be continued" ending for him, unless the player first plays Barnaby's route and wakes Kotetsu up.

For every choice you make and event you encounter, you will earn points that add to your score. You can get as little as 5 points, and as much as 10,000. You're encouraged to go through each route multiple times to collect all the points.

If you utilize the timeline feature to go back to a previous decision, the option you picked before will have its text greyed out, but still selectable. Upon selecting the alternate option, the timeline will show the previous selection greyed out to show that choice is not currently active in the narrative. Pressing the select button will also activate a skip feature that fast-forwards through scenes if you've seen them already.

Plot[]

The heroes are all gathered after a successful episode and told that they're to attend a musical as special guests in the following day. The day after being briefed, everyone goes about their day to prepare for the musical - as well as balancing it with their daily life and duties they have regarding their job. However, none of the heroes can catch a break, as they each run into some sort of trouble, which may or may not be related to the musical they're due to see...

The game vaguely takes place during the first half of Season One. Some evidence towards this is Kotetsu and Barnaby's somewhat rocky relationship being depicted - with Barnaby often thinking that he shouldn't associate with Kotetsu, how multiple characters and in-game narration refer to Keith as King of Heroes in a present-tense, and how Kotetsu's powers don't appear to be in decline; as he's not worried to use them in split-second decisions. The opening that plays upon loading the game is also Orion o Nazoru and upon completing a route it plays the Hoshi no Sumika credits theme.

Kotetsu's Story[]

Kotetsu's story is unlocked from the start.

Kotetsu's story is probably one of the best in the game, and it's actually got very varied pathing, too. Quite easy to get into a game over THAT YOU NEED TO GO PRETTY MUCH ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE START TO GET UNBLOCKED FROM! While that sounds annoying, I'd say it's what makes his route great. He also is one of the few heroes with branching scenes within a specific ending, it's great!

Barnaby's Story[]

Barnaby's story is unlocked from the start.

Barnaby's route seems to serve as more of a standard tutorial and sets up what to expect from the others, and isn't very interesting on his own. You can see 90% of what the route has to offer right from the get go, the only thing you'd be missing out on is a scene with Blue Rose. He's required to un-block 3 routes so make sure you. Do that. I am concerned for Barnaby though he finds a literal stalker blog and goes "I'm so grateful for my fans" WHAT????

Karina's Story[]

Karina's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

Karina's is pretty okay. It shines best when she's interacting with Emily and Jane, and genuinely I think they get more screentime in this game than they do in the whole anime runtime. Nothing else really stands out about her route, though.

Antonio's Story[]

Antonio's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

Antonio says he's hungover but he's apparently so good at being hungover that he certainly doesn't act it. Also I gotta say, most routes have it so the better ending (blue) flows into the canon ending (purple) but for Antonio I genuinely think his route canonically flows from Green to Purple, purely since pacing wise that is what makes more sense. Getting Blue also implies he goes on a date with Anges, or does an interview so poorly he fails so score one, neither of which seem to have room to occur, so...

Keith's Story[]

Keith's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

Keith's is a very interesting one, and you cannot achieve the canon ending without playing Ivan's route first. Keith is sort of the lorekeeper of this whole Visual Novel, with the strongest connecting pieces coming from him. Also, John only has one sprite in the whole game. Keith is just so sweet I love him and his route go play it.

Ivan's Story[]

Ivan's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

All you need to know is one of his bad endings has him make an indescribable noise as he's literally rolling for his life. Thank you Nobuhiko Okamoto, idk how you did that but by god,

Nathan's Story[]

Nathan's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

Unfortunately suffers from the butt-grope trope since this IS season 1 sadly, but the second half of the story is so damn good oh my god. The events are also rather varied, though most of them don't really lead to anything. Like, idk what the hell the point of the scene talking to ivan early on was about I genuinely can't remember, purely bc it doesn't do anything but add to the score.

Pao-lin's Story[]

Pao-lin's story must be unlocked by achieving the Purple/Canon ending for Kotetsu's story, and any ending for Barnaby's story.

If you came here for gender envy and similar, then you've made it to the right place. If you hated the S1 ending for Pao Lin you will probably actually like the Purple ending of this route.

Yuri's Story[]

Yuri's story is a hidden unlockable, as he is not initially listed in the story select. You have to unlock his story by getting all Purple/Canon endings for each hero.

It's only 15 minutes long oh my god this is sad Though what's even sadder is it's actually very likely that the bad ending is the canon one this time.
